How it all started..
I've always been drawn to Australian Shepherds. Fluffy coats and goofy natures, intelligent, and will often do things just to make you laugh. I started classes with my first dog, Dresden, and was smitten. I began to realize the rabbit hole I'd entered may not have a bottom, and began to research different training methods, and how they could impact all animals. So many different training methods, and interpretations. (Under Info & Links, you'll see websites, articles and books that I've recommended, or used for training.)
Where it went...
It took a couple of years, but I ended up using 'force free' methods and started seeing much different results. When you tell a child to do something, they often rebel. What's in it for them? They would much rather be playing a game, or eating candy. But what if you could find a way to change the way they thought about what they were doing, and why?
What if you could do that with another species? What if they could tell you what they really wanted?
