Before you choose to vaccinate, please read the articles and sites above. Be aware of any potential side effects, impacts and warning signs. Vaccinosis can take minutes, hours, or months to manifest; and symptoms can range from lethargy and vomiting to paralysis or death.
If you feel there is no alternative and you must vaccinate, be sure of your dog's MDR1 status. Verify which chemicals are in the vaccines. Demand only 'Killed' or 'Inactive' vaccines be used. And only give one vaccination at a time. DO NOT overload your puppy or dog by combining ANY vaccination, and allow for a minimum of 2 weeks between each injection.
A 'holistic approach' has the most comprehensive schedule, that reduces the impact to the dog's system, and allows for puppies and dogs to process the chemicals and pathogens. But be aware, this is a protocol meant for all dogs, it does not account for the sensitivities in herding and working breeds. Just as some humans are allergic to trees or strawberries, others are allergic to nuts and fish. Canine sensitivities can be as varied and diverse as any human's. Read up on the gene studies for Multi Drug Resistance (MDR1), and how vaccines or other chemicals used for heartworm, or flea and tick medications can permanently alter your dog mentally, physically, and in some cases cause death.
